Rome, Italy, December 14 -- Two bronze statues made at the beginning of the 20th century in front of the house-museum of the artist Pietro Canonica in Villa Borghese, in the green heart of Rome. Pietro Canonica (1869–1959) was a famous Italian sculptor, author of important artworks made for mausoleums and monumental tombs still present in Italy, Russia, Turkey, England, Colombia and Argentina. Considered the green lung of Rome, Villa Borghese is the largest public park in the city with almost 80 hectares of extension, where residents and tourists can spend hours of relaxation and silence among tree-lined avenues, ponds and Italian and English-style gardens surrounded by trees and ancient pines. The area of the Villa Borghese includes the extension of ancient gardens the of the Borghese family since 1580, while the current arrangement of the park was completed in 1903 in neoclassical style. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle image in high definition format.
The Villa Borghese Gardens are located on the Pincian Hill and cover an area of 80 hectares and were developed in 1606 by Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The bronze statue of the religious and philosopher Giordano Bruno, created by the sculptor Ettore Ferrari in 1889, was erected in the place where he was condemned to the stake by the Holy Inquisition in 1600. A glimpse of the Palazzo del Quirinale (Quirinal Palace) in the historic heart of Rome seen from the gardens of the Carlo Alberto public park. On the left, the bronze equestrian statue of King Carlo Alberto of Savoy, created in 1899 by the sculptor Raffaello Romanelli. The Quirinal Palace is currently the official seat of the President of the Italian Republic, elected every seven years by the Italian Parliament. Built in neoclassical style on the Quirinal hill between 1573 and 1583 as the summer residence of Pope Gregory XIII, this palace over the centuries has been the residence of the Popes (1605-1870), the residence of the King of Italy (1871-1946) and official seat of the Presidency of the Republic (from 1946 to today). Some of the most important Italian architects and artists participated in its construction and decoration, including Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Carlo Maderno, Guido Reni and Domenico Fontana.
