Kalmia latifolia, commonly called mountain laurel, calico bush, spoon wood, ivy bush or American laurel, is a genus of about seven evergreen shrubs in the heather family Ericaceae. The small tree or shrub, that is native to Eastern North America, is covered with abundant clusters of flowers, lasting for several weeks in late spring and early summer. The flowers are very showy and cup-shaped with five sides and range in color from deep pink to white with purple markings inside. The flowers give way to brown fruits in autumn that persist into winter.

Pyracantha is a genus of thorny evergreen large shrubs in the family Rosaceae, with common names Firethorn or Pyracantha. They are native to an area extending from Southeast Europe east to Southeast Asia, resemble and are related to Cotoneaster, but have serrated leaf margins and numerous thorns (Cotoneaster is thornless).\nPyracanthas are valuable ornamental plants, grown in gardens for their decorative flowers and fruit, often very densely borne. Their dense thorny structure makes them particularly valued in situations where an impenetrable barrier is required. Pyracantha berries are not poisonous as commonly thought; although they are very bitter, they are edible when cooked and are sometimes made into jelly.[2] In the UK and Ireland Pyracantha and the related genus Cotoneaster are valuable sources of nectar when often the bees have little other forage during the June Gap.\nThe plants reach up to six metres tall. The seven species have white flowers and either red, orange, or yellow berries. The flowers are produced during late spring and early summer; the pomes develop from late summer, and mature in late autumn (source Wikipedia).

Exochorda racemosa, commonly called pearlbush or common pearlbush, is a species of the rose family and is mostly found in Japan and China. Common pearlbush is a loose, upright, early-blooming, deciduous shrub, with the flower buds resembling white pearls, hence the common name. Flowers bloom in spring (April-May) just during the cherry blossom season, each flower being 5-petaled, cup-shaped and white.

White elderflower (Sambucus nigra). After processing, elder flower is used in traditional herbal medicine for colds, flu, allergies and catarrh, and arthritis. It is a good source of vitamin C. As such, it is a well-known plant in the field of traditional medicines. These medicinal properties may be one reason why it is also used to make a light white wine.
