Spiders, dragonflies, and other small wildlife are the unsung heroes of our ecosystems, working tirelessly to maintain balance and sustainability. Spiders act as natural pest controllers, reducing harmful insect populations, while dragonflies regulate mosquitoes and other flying pests. These creatures, though small in size, play a significant role in pollination, nutrient cycling, and supporting food webs. Protecting their habitats ensures biodiversity thrives, demonstrating that even the tiniest lives have an immense impact on the health and sustainability of our planet.\nLocation: Mangar, Haryana (India)

Fascinating larva of the spicebush swallowtail. The big dots are not eyes; they are markings to help disguise the caterpillar as a scary snake to ward off predators. They even have a catchlight built in. The larva feed on spicebush and sassafras leaves. Tiny blue dots outlined in black run up and down the body.
