Beja Airport, Portugal: sonar buoys chutes - sonobuoys are used in anti-submarine warfare and submarine rescue - there are two main types, active buoys send out sonar pulses, which reflect off of the submarine, and the return is datal inked back to the aircraft, passive buoys listen for any radiated noise from the submarine contact -  hydrophone sensors and stabilizing equipment are below the water surface, the buoy relays acoustic information from its hydrophone via UHF/VHF radio to operators on board the aircraft - Lockheed P-3 Orion aircraft, a military derivative of the Lockheed L-188 Electra. Roseville, CA – July 12, 2024:  Cal Fire's Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit battles a fast-moving dry grass fire threatening Placer County, California. Ignited near Athens Avenue and Fiddyment Road, the blaze spread rapidly due to extremely hot, dry conditions.  Cal Fire crews work to contain the flames and prevent further damage.

Toquaht Lake is 13.9 miles from Ucluelet in Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District. The Toquaht are the people of Toquaht Bay, Mayne Bay and western Barkley Sound, and are one of the Nuu-chah-nulth Nations who have lived along Vancouver Island’s west coast for over 10,000 years. \

(RAF Mount Pleasant military air base functions as the islands' main international airport, due to its long runway). Port Stanley Airport is operated by the Government of the Falkland Islands, and is used for internal flights between the islands and flights between the Falklands and Antarctica. Hub for the Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS).

The  Beechcraft King Air family is part of a line of utility aircraft produced by Beechcraft. The King Air line comprises a number of twin-turboprop models that have been divided into two families. This photo is looking up at a Model 100 developed in the 1960s and known as King Airs.\n\nThe King Air was the first aircraft in its class and has been in continuous production since 1964. It has outsold all of its turboprop competitors combined. It now faces competition from jet aircraft.
