Magpie Mine is near the village of Sheldon and dates back to 1740. It is famous for fatal running battles it had with other mines over resources which led to a 'widows' curse' on the men of Magpie Mine after they were implicated - but cleared - of the deaths of some of their competitors. When the mine was closed in 1958 it was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire. It is a standing old ruin which is free for the public to view and explore.

The original castle of Aberstwyth was built by the Normans in the early 12th century with Timber and groundworks but was later replaced by a Stone Castle built by the Welsh.

The granularity is real film grain (due to the presence of small particles of a metallic silver on the negative). The negative was scanned and converted to a black and white positive by software. Minimal post processing has been done. The image is part of a series of houses and backyards/orchards in Kampos, Chios, Greece.

The ruins of Dunwich Greyfriars, a Franciscan friary founded in the 13th century in what was then the prosperous port of Dunwich on the Suffolk coast, but is now a small village, with most of it having been lost to the sea due to coastal erosion over hundreds of years. Processed to give a slightly haunting feel as there have been rumoured ghost sightings.

Anavatos (Greek: Ανάβατος) is a medieval, now abandoned, village located 16 km north-west of Chios Town. The village was established in the Byzantine era, probably by workers of the nearby Monastery of Nea Moni. Above the village stands a medieval fortress. The village was abandoned after the Turkish massacre in 1822 and the devastating earth quake in 1881.The image was captured on old-fashioned black and white grainy ISO 400 film by an analogue 35 mm film camera. The granularity is real film grain (due to the presence of small particles of a metallic silver on the negative). Minimal post processing has been done (only adjustment of histogram).
