Rome, Italy - April 16, 2016: Piazza Navona with crowds of people, probably mostly tourists, on an overcast morning in spring. The piazza (city square) was built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian (Stadio di Domiziano), also known as the Circus Agonalis, commissioned around AD 80 by the Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus as a gift to the people of Rome. It was originally mostly used for athletic contests. In the background is the Fountain of the four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Bernini) with the Egyptian obelisk. To the left is another fountain, the Moor Fountain (Fontana del Moro). It represents a Moor, or African, standing in a conch shell, wrestling with a dolphin, surrounded by four Tritons. The large building to the left is the Sant'Agnese in Agone, a 17th-century Baroque church. The early Christian Saint Agnes was martyred in the ancient Stadium of Domitian. Construction began in 1652.
The building has three towers and a dome. The sky is cloudy and the building is old

Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone and The Fountain of the Four Rivers in Rome’s Piazza Navona (1648–51), Gian Lorenzo Bernini's largest and most famous artwork, supports an ancient Egyptian obelisk over a hollowed-out rock, surmounted by four marble figures symbolizing four major rivers of the world
The Fountain of Moor, Fontana del Moro, stands at the south end of Piazza Navona, Rome, Italy. The Piazza was regularly flooded between 1652 and 1866 on the weekends in August for games, including Roman Naval games. Today it is a constantly moving town square, with street performers, Christmas markets and sidewalk cafes. The Fountain of the Moor has a base made of rose marble that was designed by Giacomo della Porta, but 80 years later Gian Lorenzo Bernini added the sculpture of an Ethiopian to balance out the piazza, because Bernini's masterpiece in the center of Piazza Navona...the Fountain of the Four Rivers had sculptures of four dieties.

The Four River Fountain in Piazza Navona, masterpiece monuments of Rome
A suggestive and romantic sky of a colorful Roman sunset illuminates Piazza Navona, in the historic and baroque heart of the Eternal City. On the right the splendid facade of the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone, a masterpiece of the Roman Baroque, built between 1652 and 1672 by the architect Francesco Borromini. The Rione Parione, the district surrounding Piazza Navona, is one of the most beautiful and visited districts of Rome for the presence of countless artistic and historical treasures, monuments and ancient Romanesque and Baroque churches, but also for its squares and alleys to explore freely, where it is easy to find typical restaurants, small artisan shops, street artists, and the original Roman soul. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image.
