Osmanthus fragrans, native to Asia (Japan, China and Himalayas), and commonly called fragrant olive, sweet olive or sweet tea, produces clusters of flowers that have an extremely powerful apricot fragrance. Cornus kousa, commonly called Japanese dogwood, Kousa, and Kousa dogwood, is native to East Asia and is a small, deciduous flowering tree, with bloom occurring from late spring to early summer (May-June). Kousa dogwood “flowers” are four petal-like white bracts which surround the center cluster of yellowish-green, true flowers. Flowers are followed by berry-like fruits which mature to a pinkish red in summer.
