California Gnatcatcher (polioptila californica)

In the Northern Country The restless flycatcher or restless myiagra is a passerine bird in the family Monarchidae; it is also known as the razor grinder or scissors grinder because of its distinctive call. It is a native of eastern and southern Australia.

A Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus) on a stump at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area in Riverside County in southern California. This species is found year-round in most of Mexico and the southern half of the United States and breeds in those locations and farther north into the Canadian prairie provinces. The Loggerhead Shrike is the only shrike endemic to North America, but there are over 30 other species in other parts of the world.
