skeletons of animals at the museum
Blue signs identify the different levels in the soil and bones of the thousands of bison with stone tools that are exposed at the Vore Bison Jump archaeological site, a natural sinkhole located on the grasslands near Wyoming's Black Hills used by the Plains Indians to trap herds of bison between 1500 A.D. and 1800 A.D. Prior to the arrival of European horses, hunting bison was difficult and dangerous, so as winter approached, tribes often joined in communal hunts to drive herds of buffalo over the hidden cliff which would provide food, clothing, shelter, tools, toys an much more for the people.

The three sections of the Taung Child Skull as reconstructed by Raymond Dart. In 1924 miners at the Buxton Quarry near Taung in South Africa's North West Province discovered a fossil that was later identified by Dart as an Australopithecus africanus, the first discovery of its kind. His reconstruction consists of three separate parts: the mandible, the face, and an endocranial cast. Age: approximately 2,5 million years. Taung is part of the UNESCO Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site.

The ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) is a medium- to larger-sized strepsirrhine (wet-nosed) primate and the most internationally recognized lemur species, owing to its long, black-and-white, ringed tail. It belongs to Lemuridae, one of five lemur families, and is the only member of the Lemur genus. Like all lemurs, it is endemic to the island of Madagascar. Lemuridae.
Here is a river otter who has hopped up on a log for a better look around. Perhaps he is checking to make sure there are no mountain lions skulking about. 3D Rendering

It is characterised by a broad head, large eyes, a pointed snout, long legs, a thin tapering tail, and a brindled coat pattern. The head-and-body length is around 24–35 cm (9.4–13.8 in), and the weight is typically between 0.62 and 0.97 kg (1.4 and 2.1 lb). The coat is light grey to yellowish-brown with alternate, poorly-defined light and dark bands on the back. Meerkats have foreclaws adapted for digging and have the ability to thermoregulate to survive in their harsh, dry habitat. Three subspecies are recognised.
