Powwows are celebrations where First Nations gather to honour and share their rich heritage and traditions with music, dance and beautifully vibrant regalia. There were vendors with handmade leather work, drums, jewelry, t-shirts 'every child matters', bannock, salmon. The general public is welcome.

This Powwow took place on the Capilano lReserve, West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 8 July 2017. This 30th annual Powwow, was a gathering of First Nations communities to honour their culture, share, respect, dance and drum. Here we see the flag carriers at the Grand Entry.
The Chumash are a Native American people who historically inhabited the central and southern coastal regions of California, in portions of what is now San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties, extending from Morro Bay in the north to Malibu in the south. They also occupied three of the Channel Islands: Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel; the smaller island of Anacapa was likely inhabited seasonally due to the lack of a consistent water source.[Native Americans have lived along the California coast for at least 13,000 years.The name Chumash means “bead maker” or “seashell people” being that they originated near the Santa Barbara coast.
