People Hiking on the Mountain with Snow

Turkey Run State Park is in Parke County Indiana. Sandstone hollows were formed many years ago, making the park a paradise for hikers. The tall colorful hollows make you feel like you are in another planet. Waterfalls, cliffs, and hardwood forest are unique. We have hiked every trail, many times and are always mesmerized by the magnificent rock walls. Trail 3 is our favorite, but make sure you don't wear sandals. The rock cliffs are slippery and you will get your feet wet because you walk along a creek bed and up a waterfall. After the waterfall the trail takes you up a rock ledge with carefully carved steps requiring you to wait for oncoming hikers.

A well worn path follows the contour of the cliff wall next to it. This lush scene is taken in the Red River Gorge area of Kentucky. The area is part of the Daniel Boone National Forest.

There are colorful rocks in the area known as Whispering Cave at Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. This massive recess carved in the cliff walls was formed by water erosion and has large overhangs and a 105-foot waterfall.

The 25 foot Honey Run Falls is frozen over with ice. Located in Knox County Ohio outside of Howard Ohio. The water falls are part of the Knox County Park District. The side walls of the water fall feature blackhand sandstone. Hemlock trees tower above the frozen water.
