Commensal Emperor Shrimp or Imperial Shrimp Zenopontonia rex (ex. Periclimenes imperator) occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea, Réunion and Mayotte to Hawaii and French Polynesia, and from southern Japan to New Caledonia and northern Australia in a depth range from 1 to 40m, max. length 3cm. The species is always living in association with a large sea cucumber, a nudibranch or other large mollusc, perching on its back as its host moves around, like these specimens. \nThere is often a pair of shrimps, or even three, on a single host, and then they usually have identical colouring. The colouring also varies depending on the shrimp's host; the classic colouring usually occurs when it is associated with a sea cucumber. \nZenopontonia rex keeps to the dorsal surface or flanks, moving to the far side of the host if danger threatens. The shrimp feeds on detritus on the seabed, as well as cleaning the surface of its host and feeding on mucus and faeces. \nThe Nudibranch Ceratosoma trilobatum occurs in the subtropical and tropical Indo-West Pacific from the Red Sea to Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Caledonia, max. length 10cm. The species feeds on sponges, like all the members of the family Chromodorididae. \nLembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia\n1°27'13.104 N 125°14'14.634 E at 14m depth
