Orange Cup Coral Tubastraea coccinea and a Dendronephthya Soft Coral dominate the scenery at this steep wall. \nTubastraea coccinea, a large-polyp stony coral, is not a reef building species. The coral extends beautiful translucent tentacles at night and in daytime on sunprotected areas of the reef like on this steep wall. Tubastraea coccinea does not contain zooxanthellae in its tissues as many tropical corals do, allowing it to grow in complete darkness as long as it can capture enough food. \n\nA lot of fishes in the background, mainly Snappers and Surgeons. \nThere is a Longnose Hawkfish Oxycirrhites typus on the Dendronephthya Soft Coral. This reef-associated and strongly territorial fish species lives in tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and South Africa to the Hawaiian Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia and in the Eastern Pacific from the Gulf of California to northern Colombia and the Galapagos Islands in a depth range from 10-100m. The species is uncommon or rare in most shallow areas, less uncommon below 25m depth. Maximum length 13cm. \n\nTriton Bay, West Papua Province, Indonesia \n4°0'48.642 S 134°12'13.812 E at 10m depth

The colonies grow up to 1m high and to 15 cm diameter at the stem base. Usually colonies are fan-shaped with 1 to 3 cm thick branches perpendicular to the prevalent current. This is also a azooxanthellate species, that do not contain zooxanthellae and derive nourishment not from the sun but from capturing different forms of plankton. \n\nTriton Bay, Indonesia, \n4°2'37.914 S 134°14'12.564 E at 9m depth
