Male often raises clubbed tail.\nOccurrence:\nOccurrence is scattered and populations are normally rather small. May be abundant locally.\nHabitat:\nPools and lakes with moderate nutrient levels and rich aquatic vegetation.\nFlight Season: \nMid May to early August; most abundant in June.\n\nThis Picture is made in the Weerribbenn (Overijssel, the Netherlands) in mid June of 2025.

Its characteristics include large compound eyes, two pairs of powerful transparent wings, and a slender abdomen, about 8 cm long. The wings are flat when stopped.
