Groups of tourists are preparing to enter the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos in Cordoba, a medieval fortress located in the historic centre, whose construction was ordered by the King Alfonso XI of Castile in the year 1328. It is part of the Unesco World Heritage Site of Cordoba.

The double arches consist of a lower horseshoe arch and an upper semi-circular arch. The famous alternating red and white voussoirs of the arches were inspired by those in the Dome of the Rock. Constructed as a Mosque in 785 and converted in 1236 in the current Cathedral of Córdoba, the temple even now retains features of the Islamic architecture. It is also know as the Great Mosque of Córdoba, and is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
