Bodie, California is an old gold mine town located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The town’s people left making Bodie a ghost town. In the wake of people leaving, the mine machinery was also abandoned and left behind, creating a museum of sorts. Bodie, California is now part of a State Park. Tourists from around the world visit the ghost town every year.

Today, fewer than 200 buildings remain, yet Bodie is still one of the largest ghost towns in the United States. It is designated as a California State Historic Park and a National Historic Landmark, attracting approximately 200,000 visitors annually.
