Sphinx pinastri, the pine hawk-moth, is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is found in Palearctic realm and sometimes the Nearctic realm. This species has been found in Scotland but is usually found in England. The species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae. \nThe larvae feed on Scots pine, Swiss pine, Siberian pine and Norway spruce. \nDescription:\nThe wings of Sphinx pinastri are grey with black dashes. The wingspan is 70–89 mm. The moth flies from April to August depending on the location. \nThe back of the thorax is grey with two dark bands around both sides. \nLife cycle:\nThe females lay their eggs in groups of two or three along pine or spruce needles (source Wikipedia).\n\nThis Picture is made during a Long Weekend in the South of Belgium in June 2019.

The black furry tenacity has a beautiful leather motif. Apart from being black, it also has a white dot motif. Hairy tenacity is dangerous if it comes into contact with the skin, because it can cause itching.

Owl-eyed moths are perfect examples of 'mimickry in nature'. The eye-spots on the wings look like eyes of an owl and hence, predators will think twice before attacking it.
An Autumn Leaf butterfly gracefully flutters above a green tropical fern, showcasing its wings of vivid blue and black. The soft-focus background brings a sense of calm to the image, while the butterfly's movement conveys a sense of freedom and exploration in nature.

The setaceous Hebrew character (Xestia c-nigrum) is a moth of the family Noctuidae. The species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae. It is found in the Palearctic realm. It is a common species throughout Europe and North Asia and Central Asia, South Asia, China, Japan and Korea. It is also found in North America, from coast to coast across Canada and the northern United States to western Alaska. It occurs in the Rocky Mountains from Montana to southern Arizona and New Mexico. In the east, it ranges from Maine to North Carolina. It has recently been recorded in Tennessee. \nDescription:\nThe wingspan is 35–45 mm. Forewing purplish grey or purplish fuscous with a leaden gloss; costal area at middle ochreous, merged with the bluntly triangular orbicular stigma: cell, a submedian basal blotch, and costal spot before apex purplish black; claviform stigma minute; reniform large, the lower lobe purplish; hindwing ochreous whitish, in female with the termen broadly fuscous. \nLava pink with a broad dark brown subdorsal band. A lateral yellow band with a brown spot on it. Head reddish brown in color. There are many Foodplants described, of which several Trees and Plants (source Wikipedia).\n\nThe Picture is made during a light catch in the South of Limburg half way of August 2021. This is a very common Species in the Netherlands.
