The 200 species of Castilleja are commonly known as Indian Paintbrush. These annual and perennial plants are native to the western part of the Americas from Alaska south to the Andes, northern Asia, and one species as far west as the Kola Peninsula in northwestern Russia. These plants are classified in the broomrape family. They are considered a parasitic plant which grows on the roots of grasses and forbs. The name honors the Spanish botanist Domingo Castillejo. These Castilleja were photographed on the Paradise Meadows in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington State, USA.

The Continental Divide is the principal hydrological divide of the Americas. The Continental Divide extends along the Rocky Mountains and Andes, and separates the watersheds that drain into the Pacific Ocean from those that drain into the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Mount Robson Mountain Summit in Summer, British Columbia, Canada. The Mount Robson is one of the highest summits in Canada and located in the Mount Robson Provincial Park, BC.

The lake, falls, mountain and glacier are all named after George Bird Grinnell, an early American conservationist, explorer, and founder of the Audubon Society. Grinnell was so inspired by the scenery during his first trip to the area in 1885 that he spent the next two decades working to establish it as a national park. In 1896 Grinnell was one of the three commissioners to sign the treaty with the Blackfeet Indians that transferred ownership of the land that would become Glacier National Park.
