An image of the inside of a local ger taken on the steppe of Mongolia
Ovorkhangai Province, Mongolia — July 19, 2023: A nomadic woman stands on the roof of a ger (yurt) being constructed, as a child sits on a stack nearby on an overcast day.
The lonely tent (ger) in the largely desolate Gobi Desert, Umnugovi province, Mongolia. In summer time, the surrounding desert is hot in the afternoon. And it is cold in the night. The dust storm comes any time in the lonely deserts.
Close up of a traditional nomadic herder’s ger, in the Kazakh region of the Altai Mountains in Western Mongolia. Held together with wooden poles, the woollen felt & canvas covered gers can be packed up & moved quickly & easily. They are set up in different livestock grazing areas depending on the season. They are home to families who live together in remote locations, moving each season. An ornately carved door and patterned fabric along the bottom of the ger gives a personal touch to the temporary home.

Mongolian yurt called a ger on grassy steppe of northern Mongolia
Drying traditionally made yak curd on a wooden frame, with a homemade bird scarer hanging above it. It is located next to a Kazakh nomadic herder family's ger and wooden cabin, with an all terrain vehicle parked nearby. It is the herder's summer camp in the remote mountainous region. The nomads then migrate with their livestock to different grazing areas with each season.

Nomadic yurts in the mountains at sunset, Kyrgyzstan
Mongolian Yurts surrounded by huge sand dunes in Badain Jaran desert. This desert is home to some of the tallest stationary dunes on Earth, with some reaching a height of more than 500 meters. The desert also features over 100 spring-fed lakes that lie between the dunes, some of which are fresh water while others are extremely saline. It is a subsection of the Gobi desert.
