Jesus Christ with some of the saints depicted on the reredos in the Minster church of St Margaret, King’s Lynn, in Norfolk, Eastern England. The saints seen here are St Jerome, St Gregory, St Augustine and St Ambrose and, creepily, all the figures appear to be looking straight at the viewer. The reredos was designed and installed by GF Bodley in 1899 during renovation by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The church dates from 1101AD and was founded by Herbert de Losinga, Bishop of Norwich.

One of Tirol’s true architectural gems is the splendid Cistercian Abbey of Stams, founded in 1273. The photo shows the interior of the baroque collegiate church. The altar screen is overgrown with thick tendrils, a “Tree of Life”, springing from the base of the altar with the figures of Adam and Eve ascends via the central figure of the salvational “Immaculata” to the crucifixion as a symbol of redemption.

East Doors (Gates of Paradise) by Lorenzo Ghiberti on Florence Baptistery (Battistero di San Giovanni) in Tuscany, Italy. These doors consist of 10 panels depicting scenes from the Old Testament and were commissioned in 1424. Once completed, they were described by Michelangelo as being fit to be the 'gates of paradise'. The doors displayed are now a copy of the original, with those being displayed in a local museum.
