Kaw village, accessible only by boat, is located 52 km from Roura and 80 km from Cayenne. This reserve consists mainly of a marshy area irrigated by Angelica Creek and Kaw River and a mountainous area which is one of the first relief experienced from the sea by the winds and is therefore one of the sectors wettest Guyana. This reserve consists essentially of a swampy area of savannah dotted with floating islands moucou-moucous. The Kaw marshes is known to be one of the last refuge of the black caiman.
