A recovered ancient fresco on display at the Aarhus Cathedral in Denmark, used to educate people who could not read, depicting the Christian concept of heaven, earth and hell, top to bottom. \nAarhus Cathedral's walls were originally covered with murals, but during the Reformation, they were whitewashed. Gradually several of the paintings have been been uncovered. Despite the loss, it is the church in Denmark that has the largest area of frescoes.

The Basilica - erected by the Ostrogothic king Theodoric the Great as his palace chapel during the first quarter of the 6th century - is one of the eight structures in Ravenna registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
