The Stutfield glacier is one of the spillway glaciers from the huge Columbia Icefield on the continental divide. This icefield is the largest in the Canadian Rockies and is among the largest in the world. The thickness of the icesheet is impressive in the top of this photo. It is estimated between 300 feet and 1200 feet, so the thickness at the edge on top of the mountains must be several hundred feet in this photo.
