The green crater lake of the Ijen volcano in East Java, Indonesia. At the shore of the acid lake there is an active vent which is a source of elemental sulfur. At this place local people do sulfur mining - the miners break out the sulfur in large pieces and carry it in baskets up to the crater rim and afterwards down to the village at the slopes of the vulcano. These workers are carrying baskets with loads between 70 and 100 kilograms, most of them are doing this twice a day.

Spring in the mountains is often capricious; there are a few warm, sunny days and then suddenly winter returns. The Vallée de la Clarée, in Savoie, is furrowed by the stream of the same name and numerous lakes. In lakes, such as this one called Lac Long, the ice begins to melt.

White terraces (natural travertine formations and hot pools) in Pamukkale, Turkey. The terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by mineral water from the hot springs.
This hot spring is characterized by its large, bulbous mound formed by the deposition of travertine, a type of limestone. The travertine is deposited as hot water rich in calcium carbonate flows over the surface, creating terraces and formations that resemble a cascading waterfall of stone.
