Perched on the fringe of the Pennine moors in West Yorkshire, England, lies the quaint village of Haworth. \n\nThis picturesque locale is steeped in history and charm, serving as a timeless testament to the enduring legacy of the Brontë sisters. The landscape here is imbued with the same wild, windswept beauty that inspired the literary masterpieces of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë.\n\nAs you wander through the cobbled streets of Haworth village, you can’t help but feel transported back in time. The stone buildings, with their centuries-old facades, whisper tales of bygone eras, while the rugged moors that loom in the distance beckon adventurers to explore their untamed beauty. Every nook and cranny seems to echo with the spirit of the Brontë sisters, whose indelible mark on literature continues to captivate readers around the globe.
Contact details are visible on a poster outside the pub. The origin of the name of this pub is uncertain; there are about 70 in the UK. Some decided to change their names after the Black Lives Matter protests but it is thought the name could be linked to coal mining or chimney sweeps. Most likely, it seems to be the nickname attributed to King Charles II owing to his appearance, and in sympathy to his cause during the reign of Oliver Cromwell in the 17th century. This was why The Black Boy Pub in Sevenoaks recently changed its name to Restoration, reflecting the fact that Charles II was eventually restored to the throne.
