The Abertura dos Portos monument in Manaus was created by Italian architect Giovanni Battista Costa. It was built in 1892 to commemorate the opening of the ports of Manaus to international trade, which took place on November 15, 1889.\n\nThe monument is a granite column 15 meters high, topped by a bronze statue representing the Republic. The base of the column is decorated with bas-reliefs representing scenes from the history of Manaus.\n\nThe monument is located in the center of Manaus, on Praça da República. It is an important symbol of the city and its economic importance.
