Culloden Battlefield, Inverness, Scotland, UK - Feb 27 2019:  On April 16 1746, the Jacobite army led by ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Edward Stuart)’ suffered defeat here, to the British Army led by the Duke of Cumberland.  Between 1500 - 2000 Scottish men were killed, compared to 50 on the English side.  Rustic grave stones mark the location of the fallen soldiers.  Here we see the entrance sign to the battlefield.  It is written in dual Gaelic and English language.  The battlefield is open to the public, having been fully restored and now managed by the National Trust for Scotland.
