Rhodes Memorial, the Cape Town monument to the controversial colonialist Cecil John Rhodes (1853-1902). The monument was designed by the celebrated architect Sir Herbert Baker (1862-1946). The equestrian statue named Energy was created by the sculptor George Frederic Watts 1817-1904) and the lions by John Macallan Swan (1846-1910). The monument, which lies on the slopes of Devil's Peak, adjacent to Table Mountain, was completed in 1912.

Stellenbosch is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, situated about 50 kilometres (31 miles) east of Cape Town.
