This bronze statue was created by Bela Lyon Pratt in 1913 and donated by alumni to Yale University. It stands in Yale's Old Campus, next to Connecticut Hall, Hale's former dormitory, New Haven, Connecticut. Statue of Nathan Hale, 1755-1776, class of 1773. Monument to the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment.  The 54th Regiment was one of the first official black units in the United States during the Civil War.  The monument, constructed 1884–1898 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the Boston Common, is part of the Boston Black Heritage Trail.
