At approximately 7:30 am on June 13, 2022, a twin engine airplane flying eastwards over Bear Creek Lake Park dove steeply over Mount Carbon in Lakewood Colorado, and then banked heavily to the north and successfully crash landed on the nearby 10th fairway of the Fox Hollow Golf Course. The plane broke its nose landing gear near the putting green. FAA investigators, Lakewood Police and Bear Creek Lake Park Rangers arrived at the scene. Photographing from the adjacent, public accessible, Bear Creek Lake Park trail, the photos show investigators inspecting and photographing the plane with nearby golf carts and police as well as homes in the distance.
Left abandoned outside a hangar to the elements, this huge cargo plane is slowly becoming overgrown with moss and algae, the dirt is streaking down its hull, and the crevices around the engines are being used as nesting sites by birds. \n\nThe plane is monstrous however, 4 gigantic propeller engines - 2 per wing - power what was obviously once a beast of an aircraft, the size easily allowing it to carry troops, supplies, even vehicles in its hold. \n\nNow it stands as a piece of aviation history, obviously disused and obsolete, the tech has been surpassed by more moden aircraft.
