The male piping plover has its orange legs behind a small rise of sand, In the background is the female piping plover incubating their eggs. Although the female piping plover is not in focus, it is obvious what the activity is. The female piping plover has her feathers puffed in brooding mode. The male has a protective stance. There is a bank of seaweed in the background. The adult piping plover still shows its bright breeding colors of orange on its legs and beak.
