Georges-Eugène Baron Haussmann (1809 - 1891) was prefect of the French department of Seine from 1853 to 1870, and is considered the Parisian city planner. By his building regulations, he gave to the town center century the modern Parisian cityscape, which is preserved to this day. Wood engraving, published in 1865.
