Osmanthus fragrans, native to Asia (Japan, China and Himalayas), and commonly called fragrant olive, sweet olive or sweet tea, produces clusters of flowers that have an extremely powerful apricot fragrance. The Speckled Wood occurs in woodland, gardens and hedgerows. Butterflies often perch in sunny spots, spiralling into the air to chase each other.
