Gate of Paradise on Baptistry (Battistero di San Giovanni) in Florence at Tuscany, Italy. This international landmark, as seen on the external public-facing door of the baptistery, was designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti (between 1425-1452) and is an icon of the renaissance. The reliefs represent stories from the Old Testament. The visible heads are those of prophets. The doors displayed are now a copy of the original, with those being displayed 8n a local museum.
The Pallas-Athene Fountain (Pallas-Athene-Brunnen) is a wonderful example of artwork created between 1893 and 1902 to give an allegorical representation of the four most important rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The oracle predicts the death of Admetus.\nAlcestis, in Greek legend, the beautiful daughter of Pelias, king of Iolcos. She is the heroine of the eponymous play by the dramatist Euripides ( c. 484–406 bce ).
