A suggestive and detailed view of the archaeological area of the Theatre of Marcellus, located between the Portico d'Ottavia, in the Jewish Ghetto, and the Capitoline hill or Campidoglio (Roman Capitol), in the historic heart of Rome. Built during the reign of Emperor Augustus in the southern area of the ancient Campus Martius, the Theater of Marcellus is still partially preserved as part of the large archaeological area of the Roman Forums. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in high definition format.
