Tolentino (Macerata, Marche, Italy) - The Annunciation, painting in the San Nicola church with four candles: the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary
Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. In this photo, above the side altar dedicated to the baptism of Jesus Christ, detail of the lunette depicting the Heavenly Father.

The beautiful fresco painted by Giotto depicting Saint Francis talking to birds inside the Basilica Superiore di San Francesco (Upper Basilica of Saint Francis), in the medieval heart of Assisi, in Umbria. Giotto painted a series of great frescoes along the walls of the single nave of the Basilica between 1292 and 1305, depicting the Stories of St. Francis, from his vocation to his death. Built in the Italian Gothic style starting from 1228 and completed in 1253, the Basilica preserves the mortal remains of the Saint of the Poor since 1230. The construction of the Basilica consists of a Lower Basilica and an Upper Basilica, perfectly integrated. Over the centuries Assisi and the spirituality of its sacred places have become a symbol of peace, a point of reference for tolerance and solidarity between peoples and between the different confessions of the world. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. Since 2000 the Basilica and other Franciscan sites of Assisi have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Image in high definition format.

Gualdo Tadino, Umbria, Italy, July 08 -- A cute cat rests along an ancient stone alley in Gualdo Tadino, a medieval village between Spoleto and Gubbio, in the Italian region of Umbria. On the wall the ceramic reproduction of a scene from the life of Blessed Angelo, a Benedictine monk protector of the city. An important city since Roman times, Gualdo Tadino rises along the ancient consular Via Salaria, traced by the Romans. Its history runs throughout the Middle Ages and, despite having been partially destroyed and sacked numerous times and placed under the dominion of Perugia, this ancient Umbrian center still retains its medieval charm. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands.
