Buffalo Park is a 163-acre park located on McMillan Mesa in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. The park was created on land acquired in 1963 from the United States Forest Service. It was originally set up as wildlife park featuring a pond stocked with ducks and other waterfowl as well as a few native animals such as elk. By the time the park opened in 1964, eight bison were brought in to reside there. These bison gave Buffalo Park its name. The wildlife park lost money and the animals were removed after 5 years. Today Buffalo Park is managed as open-space and has become the crown jewel of the city’s park system. The park offers breathtaking panoramic views of the San Francisco Peaks, Mount Elden and the Dry Lake Hills. This panorama features the San Francisco Peaks and the golden hued grasses of the McMillan Mesa Meadows.

A lake is a body of water that is surrounded by land. There are millions of lakes in the world. They are found on every continent and in every kind of environment—in mountains and deserts, on plains, and near seashores. Lakes vary greatly in size and many create beautiful scenes from the reflections coming off the water.
