A bobcat (Lynx rufus) drinking from a water dish.  The bobcat has a very large range from southern Canada across the United States and south to central Mexico.  It is able to maintain itself even in suburban areas if not persecuted. Densities in appropriate habitat can be as great as 38 bobcats per 10 sq mi (26 sq km), but average one per 5 sq mi (13 sq km).

Fishers have long bodies with short legs, rounded ears, and a thick dark brown coat with a bushy tail. Fishers also have five toes with retractable claws making them excellent climbers and hunters. Generally, male fisher are about 20% longer than females and weight nearly twice as much.
