This intriguing photo captures a close-up view of a terrarium housing Venus flytraps (Dionaea muscipula) and sundews (Drosera capensis), two fascinating carnivorous plant species. The Venus flytraps display their distinctive green and red hinged leaves, each lined with tiny hairs and capable of snapping shut to trap unsuspecting insects. Interspersed among them, the sundews exhibit their long, slender leaves covered in sticky glandular tentacles that glisten in the light, ready to ensnare prey. The terrarium creates a humid, controlled environment, with a base of rich soil and moss providing the perfect habitat for these exotic plants. The glass container allows for optimal light exposure, enhancing the vivid colors and fine details of the plants. This miniature ecosystem showcases the captivating beauty and unique adaptations of carnivorous plants, offering a glimpse into the complexities of their predatory mechanisms and natural interactions

One of the plants of wet moorland, moist streambanks and boggy places, the Sundew is an insectivorous plant which derives its nourishment by trapping flies and then digesting them. Oblong-leaved Sundew is less common than Round-leaved Sundew but is similar in having hairs covering its leaves, each hair ending in a sticky blob which glues the insect to the leaf irrevocably.
