Saudi Arabia: The village of  ذي عين  (Dhee Ayn, literally translated: The Eye) is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. The village is visible for several kilometres due to the marble outcrop on which the village has been built on and against the bluish mountains as backdrop. Dhee Ayn is dating back to the end of the 10thcentury AH/8th century CE. The village is further characterized by the presence of a permanent water source and defensive fortification surrounded by mountains on three sides. This stone settlement is built on top of a white marble hill. The buildings of the village itself are not made of marble and the construction technique is rather unusual as they are are polished flat stones neatly stacked and that makes the crop of marble on which it was built even stand out more, hence the moniker ‘Marble Village’. The village is named after Dhee Ayn, a spring at the base of the hill and runs to water the fruit farm in the valley. This nature-rich environment means that the area is also home to a wide variety of wildlife.\n*The village witnessed many tribal battles before the Kingdom’s unification by King Abdul Aziz. The most important of these battles suffered by the region is when the tribes of Zahran and Ghamd met with the Turkish army lead by Muhammad Ali Pasha that ended with the defeat of the Turks; their burial place is known as \
