Close up of a traditional nomadic herder’s ger, in the Kazakh region of the Altai Mountains in Western Mongolia. Held together with wooden poles, the woollen felt & canvas covered gers can be packed up & moved quickly & easily. They are set up in different livestock grazing areas depending on the season. They are home to families who live together in remote locations, moving each season. An ornately carved door and patterned fabric along the bottom of the ger gives a personal touch to the temporary home.

The Mongol children live in gers (tents) all the time.There is a time for them to run and to play around their gers, even though during the long cold winter.
