The front of a 1943-44 British World War Two clothing ration book. (Identifying details removed.) Clothing was rationed from June 1941 until March 1949. The books contained coupons in various colours, to prevent people using all their coupons at once - the Government would announce when each colour could be used, although older coupons could be saved up and used with new ones. Each adult was allocated 60 coupons per year (later reduced to 48) and children were allowed an extra 10 coupons above the adult ration.
