Proboscis monkeys are endemic to the island of Borneo, as well as being the fauna of the identity of the province of South Kalimantan. Besides being found in Indonesia, this primate is also found in Malaysia and Brunei. The proboscis monkey's favorite habitats are mangrove forests, swamps and coastal forests.\nKnown to be shy, this species spends most of its time in trees and lives in groups of between 10 and 32 monkeys. The proboscis monkey social system is basically a one-male group, that is, one group consists of one adult male, several adult females and their young. In addition, there is also an all-male group, which consists of several male proboscis monkeys.\nKnown for its long-nosed monkey, pot belly, and reddish-brown fur. Its long and large nose functions as a resonator when these animals make sounds. Proboscis monkeys are very happy to eat fruits, flowers, seeds, insects, and their favorite food is mangrove shoots. It is known that these animals really like to eat leaves that contain a lot of gas, this is what causes the proboscis monkey to have a distended stomach.\nHas a fairly large body size with a height reaching 66-72 cm and weight 16-23 kg. The difference between males and females can be seen from the size of their noses, males have a larger size than females. The male reproductive period starts at the age of 4-5 years, while the female at the age of 4 years. Proboscis monkeys only give birth to 1 baby in 1 season, with a gestation period of 166 days.
