The ornate interior nave and chapel inside the 18th century St. Peter's Catholic Church, or Igreja de São Pedro, in the historic old town district of Funchal, Portugal, on the Canary Island of Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa.
Karanlk Kilise, or the Dark Church, was a monastic compound built in the 11th century.  It is decorated with scenes from the New Testament:  Christ Pantocrator, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, First Bath, Last Supper, Betrayal of Judas, Crucifixion, Anastasis. The richly decorated Gothic “Doorway of Kings” is the entrance to one of the most significant late-Gothic church buildings in Switzerland (built in 1478), with its plain elegant interior. The baroque Bossard organ and the original choir stalls are particularly worth seeing. The image shows the altar in the main nave of the church.

Rome, Italy, October 22 -- A catholic priest inside the church of St. Louis of the French, near Piazza Navona. Built between 1518 and 1589 on plans by the architect Giacomo Della Porta, the church was consecrated on 8 October 1589. St. Louis of the French is considered the church of the French in Rome, particularly dedicated to the figure of King St. Louis IX.
