A suggestive and detailed image of the Roman Forum taken from the terrace of the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) on the Capitoline Hill, in the heart of the historic center of the Eternal City. The Roman Forum, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the city of Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. In the foreground the Forum of Caesar with the remains of the Temple of Venus Genetrix, while in the background the Forum of Trajan. In the center the Fori Imperiali Boulevard, which connects the Colosseum with the central square of Piazza Venezia.. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
