Karanlk Kilise, or the Dark Church, was a monastic compound built in the 11th century.  It is decorated with scenes from the New Testament:  Christ Pantocrator, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, First Bath, Last Supper, Betrayal of Judas, Crucifixion, Anastasis. The  frescoes, depicting scenes from the New Testament, are the best preserved in all of Cappadocia and a fine example of 11th-century Byzantine art.   Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey.

Rome, Italy, October 22 -- A catholic priest inside the church of St. Louis of the French, near Piazza Navona. Built between 1518 and 1589 on plans by the architect Giacomo Della Porta, the church was consecrated on 8 October 1589. St. Louis of the French is considered the church of the French in Rome, particularly dedicated to the figure of King St. Louis IX. Saint King Louis 9th created Sainte Chapelle in 1248 to house Christian relics, including Christ's Crown of Thorns.  Stained Glass created in the 13th Century and shows various biblical stories along wtih medieval stories from 1200s.

Rome, Italy, January 26 - A detail of the Gothic ciborium that surmounts the main altar inside the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, dedicated to St. John the Evangelist and St. John the Baptist. This Basilica, built on the Celian hill since the 4th century in the early Christian era, is also known as the Cathedral of Rome and is the most important and ancient basilica in the Western world. Inside the apse a series of magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting the Emperor Constantine, while the central nave was designed in the Baroque period by the architect Francesco Borromini.
