This is a medium-sized sandpiper with a light brown spotted upper body and a white spotted belly. They have white circling the eye, yellow beak and pale-yellow legs. Their breeding habitat is around fresh water ponds and lakes across most of North America. In the winter they migrate across the southern states and south to South America.
