The Sri Lankan leopard is a subspecies of leopard found only in Sri Lanka, a small island nation located in the Indian Ocean. It is one of the eight subspecies of leopard found around the world.\n\nSri Lankan leopards are considered the apex predator on the island and can be found in a range of habitats including forests, grasslands, and scrublands. They are typically smaller in size than other leopard subspecies, with a length of around 5-6 feet and a weight of 70-90 kg for males and 30-60 kg for females.\n\nThey have a distinctive coat of fur, with a tawny yellow to golden color and black spots arranged in rosettes. The Sri Lankan leopard is listed as endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. There are estimated to be only 700-950 individuals left in the wild. Efforts are being made to protect their habitats and promote conservation efforts to ensure their survival.
