In Hinduism, sadhu, or shadhu is a common term for a mystic, an ascetic, practitioner of yoga (yogi) and/or wandering monks. The sadhu is solely dedicated to achieving the fourth and final Hindu goal of life, moksha (liberation), through meditation and contemplation of Brahman. Men, sitting on the floor and eating what seems to me lentil curry during a community meal. It is taking place at one of the busiest Tent-City. Mass feedings of the saints and poor are common in Kumbh Mela festivities, either sponsored by temples or by rich men. Photo taken in 2019, Prayagraj (Allahabad), India. \nKumbh Mela or Kumbha Mela is a major pilgrimage and festival in Hinduism, and probably the greatest religious festival in the World. It is celebrated in a cycle of approximately 12 years at four river-bank pilgrimage sites: the Allahabad (Ganges-Yamuna Sarasvati rivers confluence), Haridwar (Ganges), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). The festival is marked by a ritual dip in the waters, but it is also a celebration of community commerce with numerous fairs, education, religious discourses by saints, and entertainment spectacles. Pilgrims believe that bathing in these rivers is a means to cleanse them of their sins and favour a better next incarnation.
