A Female Harpy Eagle is seen in a nest with a chick.  This large raptor bird is very rare and shy.  It is endangered.  The chick is large but not fully grown.  In this photo, both birds can be seen in the nest.   The Harpy Eagle has the largest claws of all birds in the world.  It is also the only Eagle that doesn't soar, due to its short wingspan.

Bald eagles are large birds of prey with large heads, large bills and large feet. They have white heads and dark brown bodies and weigh between  6 and 14 pounds. Their average wingspan is between 5-7 feet and their average lifespan is between 20-30 years. They can be found near rivers, lakes, reservoirs, marshes , coasts and wildlife refuges. they feed on fish, mammals and waterfowl.
